5/26/2022 - Poke from Unagiri tonight with a sunset showcase. Capturing these both in memory and virtually to continue to enjoy. Hope all of you do as well.
Retroactively Posted on 3/3/2022 As you can see this week, many of my posts have been retroactive. My Gma passed on 3/1, Guam time, and I am struggling a bit with finding the energy to keep up the blog, as well as other day to day things. Its always tough to lose a loved one, even though this is how life works. Joan and I will be staying on the island and finding ways for us to celebrate her life, she would and is very proud that we are so adventurous and traveling in ways she and my grandfather did some 60 years back. A little back story: My grandfather was in the Airforce which included assignments in Okinawa, the Philippines, along with work all over the Vietnam area during the conflict. Grandma traveled by his side during every move. She was amazing supporting the kids, eventually 4 of them, while being halfway around the world. Ramen is very appropriate for this post, cheers to both of them! 3/1/2022 - Joan has been great, she worked from home to ensure I was ok, ...
3/29/2022 - I know what you are thinking, if this ep is titled new vehicles, why of all the photos to choose from did you take a photo of a Prius? This one in fact as I stated from a previous post is our host families new car, and to drive for ride hail you need a fairly new car based on expectations of the stroll service. The thing that has stood out to me here on Guam is most of the vehicles on the island are in US terms an import. Technically all things are imported on the island, as no vehicles are made here, but lets use the term "import" to mean external to the United States manufactures. This is a trend I see in both used and new vehicles, a large majority are from Japan. This has led me one to ask the question why is this the case, but also is there a way to get some data to back up what I am seeing? (what does a good engineer do to back up a claim, build a database) The next few images below are data tables, maybe less fun to read, but bear with me as I believe th...
2/19/2021 - Its been a week since we arrived on this tiny island in the Pacific, I am amazed at how fast one week can go. So to celebrate, Joan said she wanted to take me to one of the most beautiful places on the island, Ritidian point/beach. Ritidian is on the northern most point of the island, a single road between Anderson Air force Base and additional Air Force owned land takes you down to the national wildlife refuge. Approaching the entrance you go down a hill to lose about 500ft in altitude and at the top is the most luscious, scenic, beachfront view that I have ever seen. Once we arrived at the entrance there was a secondary road that took us down to the beach. About every 1/4 mile was a set of entrances through the tropical forest to the beachfront, these were really neat as it almost created your own little beach campsite. The drive through this tropical forrest is like something you would see out of a movie, a green canopy of trees, coconuts abound, with the sun...
So beautiful and I do appreciate your thoughts and insights and God's beautiful creation.
