Guam Day 12 - Running Goal - Check + Korean Onion Rings

Retroactively uploaded on 2/28/2022:

2/24/2022: I had set an an initial target of running a 5k in under 30 mins, it has been a while since I have run and the push was needed to get back into it. Not a flattering image of either of us, we are happy as we rain a 5k in 28:54. The sunset was really nice to watch from the Dededo sports park.

We celebrated by going to Cost you less, the Guam equivalent of Costco or Sams club. Joan loves going to the grocery store, and calls our evening out Dates! I never thought of going to the grocery store as a date, but am loving the experience. On the way out we saw these fun Korean style Onion ring chips, and as we were starving from just running a 5k we splurged for the dollar cost. These Onion Rings were interesting to say the least, not very salty, more foam than a Funyun, and a tangy like flavor that I am not able to compare to anything I have had before.

Next Goal: 5k in 27 mins (9 min mile ave). Arseno, our host family dad, talked about running from Anderson Air base to the Naval base, 20 miles. Maybe that's the end goal for Guam? (I never have been a distance runner)

  1. Wow! Way to go you both. I don't even want to consider pushing 5k that fast. To be honest, I really like our shopping 'date' too. The onion rings look good. 👌

  2. Run Adam and Joan, run! (Count me out unless we're on a tennis court!)
