6/9/2022 - So much to capture here. You know when you have that a ha moment because you looked at something in a different way? Having Mom and Dad here has been just like that, a chance to rediscover Guam in a whole new way. See new things even. I know its crazy after close to 110 days that we haven't just about covered this 40x15 mile island, but there are some nooks and crannies yet to be discovered.  Joan and I were really impressed that Mom and Dad didnt have much in the way of Jet lag coming to Guam. Going west always was easier for me, they are troopers, and were ready go at 8 am. We did have some rest time though, Joan had to work today so I got her in and then came back to the apartment. Fun to just get caught up, its been 4 months since we saw them. The last time was at the wedding, we were saying good bye in 20 degree weather, what a difference a few months makes.  After dropping Joan off and getting caught up, it was time to take Mom and Dad to some of my favorite h...

  6/8/2022 - Joan and I have been so excited to have my parents come and visit. Something we have looked forward to for weeks. The first image was in anticipation of picking them up at the airport, a nice view as we climbed the hill. A nice welcome to the island. To add to the welcome, Joan found a way to get traditional island lays from a co worker. The lays were made of fresh cut local flowers with a braided palm leaf to bring it all together. Highlight for me this week was to see them arrive at the airport and have Joan and I present the lays to them. We are so excited to spend the next week and host. To close the night, we sat outside watching the sunset over our rental property, an awesome close to a great welcome. So glad they are here save and sound, and so much more to come in the next week. 

6/7/2022 - Joan and I are spending the day prepping for my parents coming. We can't wait. They will be here for just over a week, arriving tomorrow. We have rented a place south of us for the week, great views from Oka Towers. Plenty of sunset watching to come and fun evening conversation. Off we go to run errands.   

 6/5/2022 - Tonight was a gorgeous night to get out to the beach. Time to get back out on the paddle board. This is our setup for getting the paddle board inflated. The air pump is hooked up to the car and in a short time post unloading we have a paddle board that is ready to float. Another good one of Joan.  The tide was out this evening, something we forget to tune into as we grew up away from the ocean. Tougher conditions to maneuver around the coral in the bay, Tumon is great in this way under a high tide. Lots of fish and coral to view. Still a great sunset and time with Joan. 

6/4/2022 - Let me tell you, this is the place for a burrito after a 50 mile ride. I mean, any burrito is probably pretty good, but this little side of the road stand now has a close place in my heart. Joan and I extended our south loop by tacking on another 10 miles to start at Asan Beach. We were wiped out by the end of it, very hungry by noon. We drove back south to Agat where the Buen Provencho taco stand is. We each had a burrito and on top of that split a fish taco. The fish taco was fresh grilled yellow tuna, amazingly fresh. What made the burrito was the cheese that was grilled into the torilla prior to rolling up all the ingredients. A little rice, pork, corn, black beans, and most importantly green salsa and chipotle sauce to top it off. I would ride another 50 miles just to have another one of these.   

6/3/2022 - Arsenio sent Joan and I this photo today, a goodie. Arsenio and Velma are out of the country for a while, back home and in the states. This was the going away photo before they left, just in case timing didnt intersect on the way back. Cake is another renter, pictured right, he has a room in the big house. Neat people.  

6/2/2022 - Taking pictures of yourself after a prescribed amount of time really starts to grow farther between as we all leave high school.  College Graduation might be one, Weddings, and other major family events also arise, but the timing of these things are inconsistent relative to time. For me this journey and this blog have created a unique way to look back at a 100 day time.  While neither of us look all that different, I can forsure say we have grown in so many ways. Here are my top 5 things I have learned while being on Guam....  1. Having a life partner makes so many things more fun I would probably never made it to Guam without Joan, and this is just a single aspect of all the joy she brings. So happy to be married, and to have a partner by my side through whatever life brings. Thank you Joan!! 2.
