Guam Day 130 - Stax Burger





7/2/2022 - Sometimes simple is just better. Stax Burgers is setup in just this manner, 3 burgers options, 3 fries / tater tots options, and a small number of refreshments, that's it. The atmosphere is modern yet quaint with just room for 12 people or so. The results are yummy and the line out the door proves it. We will be coming here again. 

Looking forward to our staycation, can't wait for Eric and Gretchen to land in just a few hours.

Guam Day 36: Diving Day Two

3/20/2022 - Im behind on this update as I was really hoping to get some of our underwater shots, we are still waiting with hopes that in the next week or so we will have them.  Saturday night was a little tough on both Joan and I, we both learned that dive ear can be painful and equalizing the pressure in your inner ear during descents / ascents is very important. This is one of those top five rules of diving, if you have gone underwater 5 - 7ft before, you know the feeling of the pressure build up. What I didn't know, until taking this class, is you can equalize by swallowing, or holding your nose and breathing out.  Joan had it a bit worse with some ear pain through the evening and into the night. On my side, my anxiety was up, thinking about diving to 60ft was a lot on the brain, and to add to it, the mask removal sign-off was part of day two, on edge with little sleep. Guam Day 7 - Ritidian Beach + Japanese food with friends

  2/19/2021 - Its been a week since we arrived on this tiny island in the Pacific, I am amazed at how fast one week can go. So to celebrate, Joan said she wanted to take me to one of the most beautiful places on the island, Ritidian point/beach. Ritidian is on the northern most point of the island, a single road between Anderson Air force Base and additional Air Force owned land takes you down to the national wildlife refuge. Approaching the entrance you go down a hill to lose about 500ft in altitude and at the top is the most luscious, scenic, beachfront view that I have ever seen.  Once we arrived at the entrance there was a secondary road that took us down to the beach. About every 1/4 mile was a set of entrances through the tropical forest to the beachfront, these were really neat as it almost created your own little beach campsite.
