Guam Day 57 - The Lumpia Master

4/10/2022 - Mr. Longs Lumpia stand at the Dededo Weekend market is a must stop if you are ever on Guam. Joan and I have stopped here many a weekends to buy lumpia, those brilliantly good Vietnamese spring rolls. Mr. Long and his wife are at the market grounds both Saturday and Sunday morning, we think between 6 am - 9 am. He will tell you that his wife spends the Friday before rolling 1000s of lumpia for the weekend sales. She is very polite, and is in the support role while Mr. Long does the cooking in that hot oil you see in image 3. Its a warm job for the morning, that oil must be 400 degrees F. Each time we go there are people queued up 5 - 10 back, many ordering 30 lumpia to take home or 6 to have while sitting right there. This family focus on customer service really stands out, they ensure the food is hot thus cooking the lumpia in front of you, never afraid to give you just one extra, and thanks you for your patronage. Also week to week they remember who you are, even the American tourists new to the area. This team runs a great little stand, and the product is to die for. Bring your cash as this place only will accept that green American dollar, worth the stop and the time!
