Guam Day 52 - National Championship Game



4/5/2022 - Wow, where did the bball tournament go, its National Championship time already. As I graduated from a great Big 12 School, today I was routing for Kansas. Winifred and I were at odds as she graduated from NC. The three of us met-up over lunch to watch the game, a little sports pub close to where Joan works. Winifred and Wilbur got extended lunches, sadly Joan wasn't free. Timing wise this was strange to watch an evening game a day ahead right before lunch. The pub didnt have their kitchen open, but provided chili dogs for the patrons that came in, not a bad gig. Very close game, came down the the last minute as a National Championship game should, in some ways I would have rather seen an OT, we were having too much fun.

Guam Day 66 - Spring Flowers from April Showers

4/19/2022 - The backyard is in full bloom again with some of the rain we have had. I have talked about this before, the flowers here seem to have multiple bloom seasons per year, Guam seems to always have something blossoming. Our host family also does a great job keeping up with all the plants around here. Vilma has been selling plants on and off as a side hustle. Great chance to work on some of my photography composition skills.  I have not been able to find what the first two types of flowers are, I need to ask Vilma again. The bottom picture I have been told is a rare orchid. A future updated post as we learn more.

Guam Day 36: Diving Day Two

3/20/2022 - Im behind on this update as I was really hoping to get some of our underwater shots, we are still waiting with hopes that in the next week or so we will have them.  Saturday night was a little tough on both Joan and I, we both learned that dive ear can be painful and equalizing the pressure in your inner ear during descents / ascents is very important. This is one of those top five rules of diving, if you have gone underwater 5 - 7ft before, you know the feeling of the pressure build up. What I didn't know, until taking this class, is you can equalize by swallowing, or holding your nose and breathing out.  Joan had it a bit worse with some ear pain through the evening and into the night. On my side, my anxiety was up, thinking about diving to 60ft was a lot on the brain, and to add to it, the mask removal sign-off was part of day two, on edge with little sleep.
